Meet The Kiss-Terns: Autumn Kennedy

October 15, 2018

Hi everyone! My name is Autumn Kennedy, and today is my first day as a fall intern at Entercom. I will be in the Events and Promotions department and I'm so excited to get started. I'm a senior communications major at the University at Buffalo, and though I've enjoyed my time there, I am more than ready to graduate in May and put my degree to use.

I was an only child for 13 years, and then I was given a little sister who I love to death. Two years later my little brother was born, and though I was used to being the spoiled only child, I was more excited to be a big sister. I also love cats (and dogs too), and I have a jealous calico cat named Buttons who hisses at me when she smells another cat on my hands or clothes.

Before going to UB, I went to Corning Community College for one year (by my hometown) and then transferred to Buffalo State. At Buff State I majored in Dietetics, and it didn't take me long at all to realize that I was not passionate about the field, and I was terrible at science. Since I was a kid, I have always loved writing and interacting with others. I get bored easily and prefer a constantly changing environment, so I decided to transfer to UB and major in Communications. I think Communications is great for me because it is such a broad field where I can branch out and try different things, use my creative abilities, and constantly learn, especially with how fast technology changes the way we interact with eachother.

I am really close to my dad, and I think my passion for music comes from him. He taught me to respect artists of all different genres and has opened my eyes to types of music I never thought I'd like (like death metal). Alternative music is my favorite though, some of my favorite bands include the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Modest Mouse, and I'm sooo excited to be able to help with Kerfuffle this year. I really want to learn about how events are set up such as the backstage areas for concerts, promotional remotes, and fundraisers. I also would like to get professional social media experience because it is so important nowadays. I can't wait to see what this internship has in store for me and I am so thankful to be able to gain this experience!!
